Born: Quilliam Theodore Cogglepotts
OCCUPATION: Toywright, Tinker-Mage & Keeper of Nogglepotts’ Oddity Workshop
Quilliam Theodore Cogglepotts—affectionately known simply as Coggle in the countryside village of Nogglepotts—is a tiny, bright-eyed inventor whose creations are as peculiar as the man himself. A master toywright, he crafts living marionettes, self-whistling whistles, spring-legged jackhoppers, and storyboxes that retell tales in their own embellishing voices (sometimes too embellishing).
In his youth, Quilliam apprenticed under the famed woodcarver Master Pipwhistle, learning to coax personality out of gears, springs, and bits of leftover brass. He later traveled the countryside performing as a “mechanical troubadour,” showcasing clockwork puppets that danced, argued, and occasionally formed labor unions.
Though never interested in grand machines or explosive experiments like his son Thaddeus, Quilliam’s genius lies in small wonders—gizmos that fit in a pocket yet spark joy in anyone who winds them. His workshop, perched on a hill just outside Nogglepotts proper, is a friendly chaos of half-finished toys, tinkering benches, and walls lined with jars labeled things like mostly harmless springs, giggle dust, and spare marbles from questionable sources.
Quilliam is known throughout Gearinthia as the grandfather of whimsy, a gentle soul who believes every child deserves a toy that feels “alive with imagination.”
Born: Belladina Marigold Cogglepotts
OCCUPATION: Artisan Seamstress, Imaginarium Dressmaker & Co-Curator of Nogglepotts’ Wonders
Belladina Marigold Cogglepotts is the elegant, ever-resourceful heart of the Cogglepotts household. A gifted seamstress with an eye for the extraordinary, she designs garments that ripple with enchantment—cloaks that warm to your mood, dresses with pockets deeper than logic allows, aprons that repel stains (except jam, for mysterious reasons), and hats festooned with tiny mechanical flora that bloom on command.
Raised in the vibrant textile district of Thimblewall, Belladina mastered stitch-weaving at a young age, winning her first tailor’s medal for a scarf that hummed lullabies. She later studied at the Academy of Artistic Mechanica, where she perfected the craft of integrating subtle gearwork into fabric—earning her the title Imaginarium Dressmaker.
When she met Quilliam, the two instantly recognized kindred creativity. Together, they transformed their cottage workshop into a haven of wonder: half tailor shop, half toy emporium, all powered by love, laughter, and a kettle that whistles in three-part harmony.
Belladina is soft-spoken but sharp-witted, with a knack for solving problems before anyone realizes there was a problem. She keeps Quilliam grounded, their home bright, and the Cogglepotts legacy stitched together with warmth, brilliance, and a sprinkle of mischief.
